A little play.
A clear privacy policy.
Playing without an account
You do not need an account or email address. A functional cookie creates a random browser identifier for your Reality Check daily attempt and video votes. It lasts up to 31 days and is sent only to the game API. Clearing the cookie loses the connection to your attempt.
Personal puzzles and device storage
Fibbers, Ballpark and WhimShift run in your browser. Their daily answers, results, total games completed and personal bests are stored on this device, without a nickname or public ranking. Up to 93 recent daily results are kept; personal totals remain until you clear storage. Reality Check also saves your played dates and device streak locally. These local records are not uploaded or synced between devices. Clearing site storage removes them. If storage is disabled, you can still play; results last only while the page stays open. The new puzzles use your device’s UTC date rather than a competition server clock.
Scores and public nicknames
The game database stores a hashed browser identifier, attempt and question identifiers, server start and finish times, your answer, score, and elapsed seconds for Reality Check. Your score stays off the public board until you choose a nickname and explicitly agree to publish it. The board displays only nicknames, scores, seconds and rank. Names come from a fixed playful picker; the server accepts only those names to avoid personal information and reduce moderation work.
Game attempts and video votes are retained for up to 31 days, then removed during the next game-start cleanup. Published scores appear on the current UTC day’s board only. Video vote totals reflect the retained votes and can fall as older votes expire. Cookie and database retention do not create an account or a permanent player profile.
Protecting the game
We use a short-lived hash derived from the hosting platform’s network address and hour, or the random browser identifier when that address is unavailable, to limit repeated requests. No raw IP address is stored in the game tables. Rate-limit records expire after about two days and are removed at the next cleanup. Hashing is pseudonymisation, not a guarantee of anonymity.
Hosting and sharing
The game is designed for OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare hosting; local previews run on this device. They may process ordinary request information and security logs under their own policies. We have added no advertising trackers, paid services or external analytics. This game database contains only game records.
Sharing is optional and includes a score and the website link, without answers or your nickname. Your browser’s share service handles destinations you choose. Source links open the original publisher’s website; those sites have their own policies.
