Tiny games.
Clear rules.
Fibbers
Flag exactly two liars on the daily 3 × 3 grid. A number claims how many directly adjacent tiles are liars: up, down, left and right count; diagonals and the tile itself do not. Honest numbers equal the real count. Liars show a wrong count. Each generated board is checked for exactly one solution. A correct set scores 100; an incorrect set scores 0. You can change flags before checking; your first daily check is final on this device. The reveal explains every tile. Practice also offers a 4 × 4 grid with three liars.
Ballpark
Estimate five procedurally drawn dot counts, shaded percentages and angles. Enter a whole number within the displayed range; look as long as you like. Each estimate locks before its answer is revealed. A round scores 100 minus the rounded absolute error penalty, with a floor of zero: dots lose 5 points per dot, percentages lose 2.5 points per percentage point, and angles lose 100/60 points per degree. The five scores total up to 500. Text alternatives use verbal clues and the same answers, for personal play. Choose visual or text mode before the first estimate. There are no flashes, confidence wagers or speed points.
WhimShift
Travel from START to GOAL in exactly five orthogonal hops, without revisiting a tile. The next rule cycles through same shape, same fill, then different shape AND fill. Both solid and outline count as fills. All rules are visible ahead of time. Undo or reset before checking; every valid route ending at the goal in exactly five hops scores 100. A path ending elsewhere scores 0. The reveal shows one valid route and the rule for every hop. You do not have to match that particular route.
The new daily set
Fibbers, Ballpark and WhimShift use a shared puzzle seed for each UTC date, calculated from your device clock. Their first completed daily results are stored only on this device. Practice creates fresh seeds and never replaces a saved daily result. Personal totals and bests survive missed days; clearing storage removes them. These are personal games with no public competition, prizes or claim of cheat-proof scoring. Small generated puzzles can naturally repeat. Midnight UTC starts the next set; the countdown also shows its reset time in your local timezone. An open puzzle stays on its original date until you choose another daily puzzle. Unfinished flags, paths and estimates are lost if you close or reload the page.
Reality Check
Reality Check is a facts-and-fiction game. Each question has exactly two source-checked true claims and one deliberately invented false claim. Pick the invented claim. After you answer, all three explanations and original source links appear.
The daily challenge
Everyone gets the same question for the same UTC date. The timer begins when the server creates your attempt; choose carefully, because your first answer is final. Refreshing or resuming keeps the original start time. The current pack contains 14 evergreen questions checked October 6, 2026, and repeats every 14 days. It is not a live trending-news service.
Complete a daily attempt before 00:00 UTC. An attempt started on yesterday’s edition cannot enter today’s board. Practice starts with yesterday’s question and cycles backwards through the other 13 questions, with no ranking. Practice can reveal future daily answers in this repeating pack. Today’s daily question is excluded from practice.
The top 20
A correct answer scores 1; an incorrect answer scores 0. The server calculates your score and whole elapsed seconds. Higher scores rank first, then fewer seconds. Exact score-and-time ties share a rank; earlier finishes fill the limited 20 places. Network delay is included in server time. This is a friendly leaderboard, not a professional competition or a guaranteed cheat-proof system.
There is one recorded daily attempt per browser identifier. Clearing cookies or using another browser can create another identifier; basic request limits reduce abuse. Rankings show submitted scores from visitors, not verified unique people. There are no invented entries, prizes or paid advantages. Nicknames come from a fixed playful picker and require explicit public consent. The server rejects free text to keep personal information and abusive names off the board.
Video challenge
When clips are available, decide whether each is real footage or AI generated. The source and explanation appear after voting. Real means verified camera footage with permission to display it; AI means an original generated clip. This game is for perception and curiosity and is not a tool for proving whether arbitrary media is authentic.
One first vote is recorded per browser identifier per clip. Displayed totals use actual retained votes only. The video game is separate from the daily leaderboard. Videos have playback controls and do not autoplay with sound. Clips are not labelled trending unless their current provenance supports that description.
Sources and corrections
Questions draw on official sources including NASA, NOAA, the National Park Service, Smithsonian’s National Zoo, the Australian Museum and Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sources appear next to each answer, including a correction source for every invented claim. If you notice an ambiguity or error, contact simulenergy@gmail.com with the question title and your source.
Your device, your progress
Your streak records consecutive UTC dates played on this device. It is a personal progress indicator, separate from server scores. Sharing includes your score and a link without answer spoilers. There is no account, email signup or permanent player profile.
